Nov 30, 2025

Sweet meets salty in these crowd-pleasing Marinated Feta & Fig Crostini. With just a few simple ingredients, you can transform a log of crusty crostini into an elegant bite-sized appetizer that feels special but takes very little effort. Creamy, herby feta mingles with jammy fresh figs and a drizzle of spiced marinade for the perfect mix of textures and flavours. It’s ideal for entertaining or dressing up a holiday cheese board.

Why You’ll Love This Crostini Topping

  • Easy to prep ahead (feta can marinate for days)
  • Looks impressive with minimal effort
  • A perfect balance of salty, sweet, and aromatic
  • No cooking required beyond the crostini

Ingredients

For the marinated feta

200g block-style feta cheese

½ cup olive oil

2 teaspoons lemon zest

1 garlic clove, minced

2 teaspoons chopped fresh rosemary

½ teaspoon dried oregano

¼ teaspoon chili flakes

¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

¼ teaspoon salt

Pinch of ground cinnamon

For the crostini

1 batch Basic Crostini (about 18 pieces)

5 ripe figs, sliced lengthwise

Instructions

  1. Slice the block of feta into ⅓-inch thick slabs and place in a shallow dish like a pie plate.
  2. In a bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the olive oil, lemon zest, garlic, rosemary, oregano, chili flakes, pepper, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Pour the marinade over the feta slices. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 3 days.
  4. When ready to serve, slice figs into thin lengthwise pieces.
  5. Top each crostini with a fig slice, a piece of marinated feta, and a light spoonful of the herby oil marinade.

Tips for Serving

  • Make sure the feta is firm so it holds its shape when slicing.
  • Serve on a wooden board or platter with extra marinade drizzled overtop.
  • Garnish with extra rosemary leaves or lemon zest for added flair.

Pair With

  • A glass of sparkling wine or dry rosé
  • Other crostini flavours like whipped ricotta and honey, or olive tapenade
  • A rustic wooden cheese board with grapes, nuts, and charcuterie
