Bedazzled Labneh Dip (A Festive Holiday Appetizer)

Nov 19, 2018

Looking for a simple appetizer that’s just as stunning as it is satisfying? This Bedazzled Labneh Dip is your answer. With creamy labneh as the base, thicker and tangier than Greek yogurt, this dish is an edible celebration. It’s topped with a jewel-toned mix of pistachios, pomegranate arils, mint, and a drizzle of honey for a perfect sweet-savory balance.

Whether you’re headed to a potluck, hosting a dinner party, or bringing something unexpected to the office holiday spread, this dip is one of those fast, fuss-free appetizers that gets people talking. Ten minutes of prep, zero oven time, and a whole lot of flavour.

Why You’ll Love This Labneh Dip

  • Effortless but elevated – No cooking, no fancy gear, just flavour-forward ingredients
  • Festive and fresh – With bright herbs, fruit, and nuts, it’s like a holiday wreath in dip form
  • Great for gatherings – Serves 6 and pairs beautifully with pita or fresh veg
  • Flexible – Can be made ahead and refrigerated, or customized with different toppings

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups labneh
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon liquid honey
  • ¼ cup shelled pistachios, roughly chopped
  • ¼ cup pomegranate arils
  • ¼ cup fresh mint leaves, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

Method

  1. Spoon the labneh onto a serving plate or shallow bowl. Use the back of a spoon to create swoops or a slight well in the middle.
  2. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  3. Drizzle the honey evenly across the surface.
  4. Scatter the pistachios, pomegranate arils, and chopped mint overtop.
  5. Finish with a drizzle of olive oil just before serving.
  6. Serve with wedges of warm pita bread or a platter of crisp veggies.

Andrea’s Tip

Can’t find labneh? No problem. Use 1 ½ cups of 2% Greek yogurt mixed with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to mimic its tangy flavour and thickness.

Holiday Hosting Shortcut

This dip can be made a few hours in advance and refrigerated (just leave off the mint and oil until right before serving). It’s a fresh and flavourful way to add colour and contrast to your holiday appetizer spread.
